The Group operates Singapore’s national debit scheme enabling customers of DBS Bank/POSB, HSBC, Maybank, OCBC Bank, Standard Chartered Bank and UOB to make payments using their ATM cards or mobile devices at more than 130,000 acceptance points in the country as well as online payments.
Position Summary
The Account Manager is responsible for driving business growth and merchant satisfaction within the merchant acquiring portfolio. This includes acquiring new merchants, managing existing relationships, and optimizing transaction performance to achieve revenue and volume targets. The role acts as a strategic partner to merchants — understanding their business needs, recommending appropriate payment solutions, and ensuring a seamless experience from onboarding to daily operations. In addition, the Sales Account Manager collaborates cross-functionally with internal teams (Product, Operations, Risk, and Marketing) to deliver end-to-end service excellence, uphold compliance standards, and contribute to the continuous growth of the acquiring business.
Merchant Relationship Management
- Serve as the main point of contact for assigned merchants, ensuring strong relationships and high satisfaction.
- Understand each merchant’s business model, transaction trends, and operational needs to provide suitable payment solutions.
- Conduct regular business reviews to identify opportunities for growth, retention, and optimization.
- Manage merchant issues or escalations promptly to ensure seamless payment operations.
2. Sales Growth & Revenue Delivery
- Achieve individual and team sales targets across acquiring volume, new merchant sign-ups, and solution adoption.
- Drive incremental revenue by cross-selling or upselling payment products (e.g., POS terminals, QR, e-commerce, instalment plans).
- Negotiate commercial terms and fees to maximize profitability and merchant value.
- Proactively identify potential merchants or business segments for expansion.
3. Portfolio & Performance Management
- Monitor transaction performance, activation rates, and churn within assigned portfolios.
- Analyze sales reports to track performance and implement action plans to achieve KPIs.
- Maintain accurate and updated merchant data and activity tracking in CRM or reporting systems.
4. Collaboration & Execution
- Work closely with internal teams (Operations, Business, Risk, Marketing, and Finance) to ensure smooth onboarding, settlement, and issue resolution.
- Support cross-functional initiatives such as product launches, merchant campaigns, or marketing partnerships.
- Provide feedback and insights from merchants to help enhance product offerings and service standards.
5. Market & Product Expertise
- Stay updated on market trends, competitor offerings, and emerging payment technologies.
- Demonstrate strong product knowledge to effectively position solutions and handle merchant queries.
- Share insights into merchant needs and market dynamics to influence business strategy.
6. Compliance & Governance
- Ensure all merchant accounts and transactions comply with company policies, MAS guidelines, and anti-fraud procedures.
- Maintain proper documentation and always uphold ethical sales practices.
