Application Developer

BCS is NETS’ wholly owned subsidiary, and is an entity within the NETS Group. It manages and operates clearing and payment infrastructure for the Singapore Automated Clearing House, including Fast And Secure Transfers (FAST), Inter-bank GIRO (IBG), Cheque Truncation System (CTS), and provides services for PayNow and SGQR Central Repository.

Team and Position Summary

The Technology Division at BCS is responsible for the operations, maintenance, and support of BCS applications such as FAST, Giro, CTS, PayNow, SGQR, TFR, eGIRO and its critical infrastructure, ensuring its operational stability, regulatory compliance, and service reliability.

The Application Delivery (Change’) department is regarded as BCS’ domain experts, overseeing the enhancement, maintenance, and advanced troubleshooting of applications, ensuring its functionality, security, and performance in alignment with set standards.

The Application Developer will be responsible for designing and delivering scalable, secure, and business-aligned technology solutions. The scope includes development, design, prototyping, and supporting delivery teams throughout the development lifecycle. The successful candidate will need to have a strong background in Java technologies and AWS, with expertise in application architecture and development, SQL query fine tuning, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on support including prototyping and coding.
• Build proof-of-concepts (POCs)
• Build Java and Web applications on AWS and On-premises.
• Support build, deployment, and testing phases.
• Ensure compliance with security and best practices.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Conduct performance and capacity assessments.
• Deep dive and solve engineering problems.
• Develop and maintain expertise in Java technologies (e.g., Struts, Spring Boot / Spring Batch), Tomcat, Oracle 19c, React JS, ServiceNow and AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, EKS, ECS, CloudWatch)

Preferred Qualifications

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field
• Minimum 8-10 years of relevant experience in building and managing critical applications.

Skills and Knowledge

• Strong experience in Java technologies (e.g., Spring Boot / Spring Batch) using Java 17/21
• Proficiency in React JS / Angular
• Development experience in integrating applications with identity providers like keycloak, AWS Cognito and Time based OTP.
• Experience in working with databases like MS SQL, AWS RDS and DynamoDB
• Experience in supporting critical application workloads on AWS Cloud
• Hands-on, detailed and a team player exemplifying the “can-do” attitude.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills

Professional Certifications
•    AWS Cloud Certifications (Solutions Architect Associate or Developer Associate)
