Business Product Manager, Merchant Business
The Merchant Business division at NETS shapes the next generation of merchant payments in Singapore, and owns the strategy, lifecycle, and full P&L of NETS’ key merchant product lines.
As a Business Product Manager, you will lead end‑to‑end product management for our merchant solutions, from identifying market opportunities, delivering commercially successful go-to-market launches, to long term evolution of the payment products and services. This is a high‑impact role that combines product ownership, business strategy, and technology leadership in a fast‑evolving payments landscape.
Key responsibilities
Formulate & own product strategy and roadmap for merchant payment products, aligned to company and segment growth goals.
- Take full responsibility for product line P&L: define pricing and commercial models, manage costs, track revenue and profitability, and drive margin improvement initiatives.
- Lead the full product lifecycle: discovery, business case, requirements, delivery, launch, go‑to‑market, and post‑launch optimisation.
- Conduct ongoing market, customer, and competitor research to identify new revenue opportunities and strengthen product positioning in the payments and fintech space.
- Partner with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Risk, and Finance to build and execute winning propositions for different merchant segments (SMEs, enterprises, platforms, and partners).
- Translate business and customer needs into clear product requirements and user stories for Technology and Delivery teams, ensuring high‑quality, timely releases.
- Define and track product KPIs (adoption, revenue, churn, transaction volume, unit economics) and use data to drive prioritisation and continuous improvement.
- Champion customer‑centric design, working closely with UX and stakeholders to create intuitive merchant experiences across portals, terminals, and APIs.
- Ensure products comply with regulatory, risk, security, and compliance standards in the financial services industry.
- Prepare and present product performance updates and strategic recommendations to senior management.
- Continuously scan the fintech and payments ecosystem (real‑time payments, QR, wallets, cards, alternative payment methods, open banking, embedded finance) to identify opportunities and threats.
- Evaluate emerging technologies such as APIs, tokenisation, data analytics, AI‑driven insights, and new payment rails to enhance our merchant value proposition.
- Build and maintain a structured view of industry trends, regulatory developments, and competitive moves to ensure our merchant portfolio stays ahead of the market.
- Drive innovation pipelines and proof‑of‑concepts with internal teams and external partners, translating promising ideas into scalable products with clear commercial outcomes.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Product Manager in payments, fintech, merchant acquiring, or related financial services, with clear ownership of product outcomes.
- Strong commercial mindset with hands‑on experience managing product P&L, pricing, and go‑to‑market levers.
- Solid understanding of the merchant payment ecosystem (cards, QR, e‑wallets, bank transfers, terminals, e‑commerce, gateways, and value‑added services).
- Ability to blend strategic thinking with execution: comfortable with market analysis, stakeholder management, and driving delivery with cross‑functional teams.
- Data‑driven, structured problem solver with excellent communication and storytelling skills.
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements in payments/financial services in Singapore and the region is an advantage.
If you are excited about building commercially successful products, owning P&L, and shaping the future of merchant payments in Singapore, we would like to hear from you.
