The NETS Group is a leading payments services group, enabling digital payments for merchants, consumers and banks across the entire payments value chain. 
 

The Group operates Singapore’s national debit scheme enabling customers of DBS Bank/POSB, HSBC, Maybank, OCBC Bank, Standard Chartered Bank and UOB to make payments using their ATM cards or mobile devices at more than 130,000 acceptance points in the country as well as online payments.

Position Summary

The Merchant Business – Online Payments Team is responsible for the strategy, P&L and endtoend lifecycle for NETS’ online merchant solutions including eNETS, NETS Click, NETS QR Online. The role owns growth, profitability and customer satisfaction across these product lines, requiring a combination of deep online payments experience with strong commercial acumen.

As a Business Product Manager, you will lead end‑to‑end product management for our merchant solutions, from identifying market opportunities, delivering commercially successful go-to-market launches, to long term evolution of the payment products and services. This is a high‑impact role that combines product ownership, business strategy, and technology leadership in a fast‑evolving payments landscape.

 

Key Responsibilities

Business and P&L Leadership

Own the P&L for the Online Payments Merchant Business, covering transaction revenue, scheme and processing costs, operating expenses and profitability targets.

Develop and execute annual and multiyear business plans for eNETS, NETS Click, NETS QR Online and inbound foreign wallet schemes, including revenue, volume, pricing and investment roadmaps.

Define and monitor commercial KPIs (e.g. merchant acquisition, activation, usage, yield, churn, channel mix, domestic vs inbound volumes) and take corrective actions to meet or exceed targets.

Lead pricing, interchange/fee optimisation and commercial constructs with banks, schemes and aggregators to maximise margins while remaining competitive.

Product Strategy and Management – Online Payments

Work on product vision and roadmap for eNETS gateway, NETS Click and NETS QR Online in line with NETS’ overall strategy and market needs in Singapore and the region.

Drive full product lifecycle management from ideation, market validation, business case and prioritisation through build, launch, enhancement and endoflife.

Ensure the online product portfolio addresses key merchant segments (SME, midmarket, enterprise, platforms/marketplaces) and verticals (ecommerce, travel, education, digital services, etc.).

Champion a strong customercentric design culture, using data, user research and merchant feedback to improve checkout conversion, acceptance rates and user experience.

Online Payments and Technology

Lead strategy and evolution of NETS’ online acquiring and payment gateway capabilities, including Direct Acquiring, APIs, SDKs, hosted payment pages and plugins for major shopping carts and platforms.

Expand and manage acceptance of key payment methods across the portfolio, including domestic and international cards, ewallets, bankbased payments, QR payments and alternative payment methods.

Work closely with Technology, Operations, Risk and external vendors to ensure resilient, secure and scalable platforms with high availability, low latency and strong fraud and risk controls.

Stay ahead of industry trends in PSPs, gateways, tokenisation, 3DS, recurring billing, payouts, subscription commerce, BNPL, and translate them into product and roadmap initiatives.

Governance, Risk, and Compliance

Ensure products and business activities comply with NETS’ risk frameworks, MAS regulations, scheme rules and crossborder requirements, particularly for online acquiring, data protection and AML/CFT.

Ensure business policies are updated for merchant onboarding, KYC/KYB, transaction monitoring, chargebacks, refunds and dispute management in collaboration with Risk and Compliance.

Lead regular business reviews, audits and control assessments, and implement remediation plans where required.

People Management

Influence and align crossfunctional stakeholders (Technology, Operations, Finance, Legal, Risk, Marketing, Sales, Customer Service) to deliver business and product outcomes.

 

Requirements

Experience

5+ years of experience in payments, with at least 2 years in online payments/product roles in payment gateways, acquirers, PSPs, card schemes or large ecommerce platforms.

Proven track record in managing the P&L of payments products or merchant businesses, including setting and delivering revenue and margin targets.

Demonstrated success in endtoend product management for online payment products (gateway, ewallets, QR, or similar).

Solid background in direct acquiring and merchant business, including pricing, commercial negotiation and management of key merchant and partner relationships.

Experience in working with product and/or business teams and leading crossfunctional delivery in a matrix environment.

Skills and Competencies

Deep understanding of online payment flows, payment gateways, cardnotpresent processing, QR and wallet payments, tokenisation, 3DS, fraud/risk management and ecommerce technology stacks.

Strong commercial acumen with the ability to construct business cases, optimise pricing and economics, and use data to drive portfolio performance.

Excellent stakeholder management, influencing and communication skills, able to work effectively with senior management, external partners and across functions.

Strong analytical and problemsolving skills, with the ability to balance strategic thinking and handson execution.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Information Technology or related field; postgraduate qualifications are an advantage.
