The NETS Group is a leading payments services group, enabling digital payments for merchants, consumers and banks across the entire payments value chain. 
 

The Group operates Singapore’s national debit scheme enabling customers of DBS Bank/POSB, HSBC, Maybank, OCBC Bank, Standard Chartered Bank and UOB to make payments using their ATM cards or mobile devices at more than 130,000 acceptance points in the country as well as online payments.

 

Position Summary

 

We are seeking a motivated and analytical intern to join our Cross-Border Payments team within the Consumer Business and Business Development divisions. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in regional payment innovation, with a focus on using AI tools (e.g., Copilot) to enhance business processes, improve operational documentation, and support data-driven decision-making across ASEAN payment networks. 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

1. Business Process & AI Enablement
•    Support the review and documentation of business and operational processes across cross-border payment initiatives
•    Leverage AI tools (e.g., Copilot) to improve process efficiency, documentation quality, and workflow consistency
•    Assist in identifying opportunities to streamline operations and enhance productivity through automation and AI-driven insights


2. Payments Analytics & Industry Insights
•    Conduct research on payment trends across ASEAN and global markets (e.g., QR, real-time payments, cross-border flows)
•    Apply AI and data tools to analyse trends and generate insightful reports and dashboards
•    Support preparation of management reports and presentations to inform strategic decision-making

 

3. Scheme Rules Harmonisation
•    Assist in reviewing and comparing operating rules across different payment schemes (e.g., QR networks, cross-border frameworks)
•    Support the development of standardised frameworks and guidelines to enable interoperability and alignment across markets
•    Document key differences, gaps, and recommendations for harmonisation


4. Cross-Border Collaboration Support
•    Support coordination with regional partners (e.g., network operators, payment schemes) on business and operational alignment
•    Assist in preparing materials for discussions, working groups, and stakeholder engagements
•    Contribute to initiatives relating to fraud management, compliance, and operational frameworks

 

Requirements

 

Education & Experience

 

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related discipline.
  • Exposure to academic projects, internships, or coursework related to business, finance, payments, fintech, data analytics, or cross-border ecosystems is advantageous.

 

Skills & Knowledge

 

  • Strong interest in Payments, FinTech, and Cross-Border Payment Ecosystems.
  • Familiarity with or interest in AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, Data Analytics Platforms).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and structured thinking skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Word
  • Knowledge of Python or other data analytics tools is a plus.
  • Understanding of data analysis and business insights generation.
  • Interest in regional innovation, digital transformation, and payment network ecosystems.
