The NETS Group is a leading payments services group, enabling digital payments for merchants, consumers and banks across the entire payments value chain. 
 

The Group operates Singapore’s national debit scheme enabling customers of DBS Bank/POSB, HSBC, Maybank, OCBC Bank, Standard Chartered Bank and UOB to make payments using their ATM cards or mobile devices at more than 130,000 acceptance points in the country as well as online payments.

Role Overview

We are looking for a commercially driven Pre-sales Solutions Consultant to join our team as a trusted technical sales partner to our Merchant customers.

In this role, you will actively support revenue growth by helping prospective merchants understand how our payment solutions can solve their business challenges and scale their operations. You will blend technical expertise with persuasive sales acumen, confidently engaging customers throughout the sales cycle — from discovery and solutioning to deal closure.

As a key contributor to the Sales team, you will be comfortable working towards sales targets, influencing buying decisions, and positioning our solutions competitively. You will work closely with Sales, Operations, Product, Technology, and Finance to ensure solutions are not only technically sound, but also commercially attractive and aligned with merchant business objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities

1. Sales-Led Solutioning & Deal Enablement

  • Sales-Oriented Discovery: Engage prospective merchants early in the sales process to understand both their business goals and technical environments, identifying opportunities where our solutions can drive commercial value.
  • Value-Based Solution Design: Design integration architectures (APIs, SFTP, Message Queues, etc.) that not only meet technical needs but strengthen the sales proposition and increase deal win rates.
  • Revenue-Focused Advisory: Proactively identify upsell, cross-sell, and expansion opportunities by aligning our platform capabilities with the merchant’s growth plans.
  • Objection Handling: Anticipate and address technical and operational objections with confidence, positioning solutions that accelerate decision-making and deal closure.

 

2. Integration Planning & Design

  • Technical Assessment: Analyze the existing technical landscape of prospective merchants. Whether they use third party platforms (Shopify, Magento) or complex proprietary legacy systems, you will identify how our payment solution fits into their current infrastructure.
  • Workflow Design: Propose integration flows that meet the merchant’s business needs while remaining technically viable. You will design architectures that utilize APIs, SFTP batch files, or Message Queues depending on the merchant's specific requirements.
  • Win-Win Solutioning: Identify potential technical challenges or incompatibilities early. You will design elegant solutions that balance the merchant's constraints with our platform's best practices, ensuring a mutually beneficial outcome.

3. Sales Support & Demonstrations

  • Partner Closely with Sales: Act as the technical face of the sales team, confidently supporting Sales Managers during customer meetings, presentations, and negotiations.
  • Commercially Compelling Demos: Own and deliver engaging product demonstrations that clearly articulate business value, ROI, and differentiation, not just features.
  • Proof of Concept (PoC): Build rapid prototypes or demonstrations that directly support sales conversion and shorten the sales cycle.
  • Comfort with Targets: Actively support the achievement of individual and team sales targets, understanding how your contribution impacts revenue outcomes.

4. Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Commercial Alignment: Work closely with Sales, Product, Technology, Operations, and Finance to ensure proposed solutions are scalable, compliant, and profitable.
  • Deal Execution: Support smooth handover from sales to implementation, maintaining customer confidence and protecting long-term account value.

5. Merchant & Developer Enablement

  • Customer Confidence Building: Guide merchant technical teams through integration requirements while reinforcing the ease, reliability, and scalability of our solutions.
  • Sales Enablement Content: Create technical one-pagers, integration flow diagrams, and FAQs that enable Sales teams to confidently sell complex solutions to non-technical stakeholders.

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or Business with strong technical exposure.

Experience:

  • 4–5 years in a customer-facing technical role such as Pre-sales, Sales Engineering, Solutions Consulting, or Implementation
  • Proven experience supporting sales cycles and revenue-driven initiatives

Technical Expertise:

  • Strong understanding of APIs, REST, JSON, Webhooks, SFTP, Message Queues
  • Ability to interpret and explain system architecture diagrams
  • Familiarity with API testing tools (e.g., Postman)
  • Ability to read/write code (Java, Python, or JavaScript) for troubleshooting or demo prototyping

Sales & Communication Skills:

  • Strong sales instincts with the ability to articulate technical concepts as business value propositions
  • Confident communicator able to engage developers, business leaders, and C‑level stakeholders
  • Comfortable addressing objections, influencing decisions, and supporting deal closure
