Storage and Backup Engineer

BCS is NETS’ wholly owned subsidiary, and is an entity within the NETS Group. It manages and operates clearing and payment infrastructure for the Singapore Automated Clearing House, including Fast And Secure Transfers (FAST), Inter-bank GIRO (IBG), Cheque Truncation System (CTS), and provides services for PayNow and SGQR Central Repository.

The Technology Division at BCS is responsible for the operations, maintenance, and support of BCS applications such as FAST, Giro, CTS, PayNow, SGQR, TFR, eGIRO and its critical infrastructure, ensuring its operational stability, regulatory compliance, and service reliability.

The IT Infrastructure Department under Technology ensures the resilience, security, and high-performance of BCS’ technology infrastructure across various functions of service monitoring, incident management, and technical support. The team ensures seamless operation, maintenance, and strategic growth of core infrastructure components, including networks, servers, storage, middleware, and databases.

The Storage and Backup Engineer will help to manage and maintain enterprise-level storage and backup infrastructure. This role also involves day-to-day operational management, Audit Compliance and participation in strategic projects. 

• Administer and maintain Hitachi storage systems, brocade SAN switches, Dell EMC data protection suite
• Manage and monitor Dell EMC Networker and Veeam backup & replication platforms.
• Perform routine health checks, capacity planning, and performance tuning.
• Ensure data protection, DRP and business continuity strategies are in place and effective.
• Handle incidents, service requests and change management related to storage and backup.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for Infrastructure upgrades and migrations.
• Maintain documentation for configurations, procedures, and compliance requirements.
• Support internal and external audit compliance activities.
• Participate in planning and execution of storage and backup-related projects.

Requirements

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in Enterprise Storage and Backup administration.

Skills and Knowledge

• Strong expertise in Hitachi Storage Systems, Brocade SAN Switch management, and Dell EMC Network and Dell Data Protection Suite.
• Solid understanding of ITIL processes and Data Protection best practices
• Experience with compliance frameworks and audit processes.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and able to work independently as well as in a team
• Self-starter and possess a customer-oriented mindset
• Resilient, ability to multi-task and operate in a fast-paced environment

Professional Certifications

• Relevant certifications (e.g., Hitachi Certified Specialist, Veritas Certified Specialist, Veeam VMCE, Huawei Certified ICT Expert).
• Experience in scripting or automation (PowerShell, Ansible, Shell Script).
• Familiarity with cloud storage and cloud backup solutions.
