Team and Position Summary

 

The Junior Automation Software Tester is part of the Delivery Unit and supports the quality assurance activities for project deliveries, system enhancements, and release readiness. Working closely with the Senior Software Tester / Test Lead and project stakeholders, the incumbent is responsible for preparing test cases, executing test scenarios, and supporting Quality Assurance and Systems Integration Testing to ensure solutions meet business and system requirements prior to production deployment.

 

The role involves supporting both manual and automation testing activities as part of the overall testing function. In addition to executing test activities and maintaining proper test documentation, the incumbent will also support the development and maintenance of automated test scripts where applicable, contributing to the continuous enhancement of the team’s testing capabilities over time.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain the traceability matrix to ensure complete and accurate test coverage against business and system requirements.
  • Prepare test cases and test scenarios based on test plans and requirements and identify coverage gaps to ensure completeness of testing.
  • Perform test execution in accordance with specified requirements, including manual and automated testing where applicable, and ensure all test incidents and defects are properly logged.
  • Develop, execute, and maintain automated test scripts using approved automation tools and frameworks to improve test efficiency, repeatability, and coverage.
  • Track and follow up on issues identified during testing to ensure proper resolution and closure.
  • Ensure that test results are accurately captured, documented, and reviewed, and that all test documents are maintained in accordance with project and quality standards.
  • Coordinate and provide support to internal and external parties throughout the various stages of testing.
  • Provide regular updates to the reporting manager on the status of testing activities, assigned tasks, and issues arising.
  • Document, implement, monitor, and adhere to testing processes and standards defined by the Company.
  • Assist in the preparation of project documentation, training materials, and user support materials where required.
  • Assist in conducting knowledge transfer or training sessions for internal and external parties and support continuous improvement initiatives in quality assurance and test automation practices.

 

Requirements

 

Education and Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in software testing, quality assurance, or a related role, preferably within the IT or financial services industry.
  • Hands-on exposure to test automation using tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or similar automation frameworks will be an added advantage.
  • Fresh graduates with relevant internship or project experience in software testing or test automation may also be considered.

 

Skills and Knowledge

 

  • Basic knowledge of programming or scripting languages such as Java, Python, or JavaScript to support test automation activities.
  • Understanding of core software testing concepts, including test case design, test execution, defect tracking, and test reporting.
  • Knowledge of automation testing concepts, test frameworks, and the software development lifecycle will be an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of test management and defect tracking tools, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Basic database knowledge and the ability to perform simple SQL queries for test validation purposes.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain standard testing deliverables such as test cases, test evidence, defect logs, test summary reports, and traceability matrices.
  • Good analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Team-oriented, proactive, and willing to learn and adapt in a fast-paced project environment.
